There's a lot of stuff in those links. I like the rear asteroid in the third picture in your post, those 'fan' shaped decks look great... Have you tried customising the asteroids to any particular race's style? The Ork roks/hulks might be worth looking at if you haven't seen them before.

Yeah, that is something I should look into. My difficulty is that when I started making terrain it was with warhammer and 40K stuff. The space object stuff looked neat to make so I began doing it as well. Since ive started its been great, ive gotten a lot of positive feeback and I seem to be making some pretty good stuff. But ive never played the game or even own a ship. I get a lot of my ideas by going around in forums and seeing what people have or finding out what they would like. Most things now I do are general and not race specific so someone can use them with any fleet. Race specific ones are something im thinking about, if you know of any links where I can see some pics that would be great. Im always open to any new ideas I'd like to hear them.

Good idea, you can find a wealth of gaming info on the various forums and sites dotted around the web. I'll have a quick look for some pics that I think you might find helpful... This page contains quite a few pictures of ships and Orbital stations belonging to some of the different races (There are some good Tau and Eldar examples). Here are some Ork hulks/asteroids that you might like.

Thanks for the links, the difficulty with the space themed stuff was in trying to get familiar with rules, scale, types of terrain and things like that. Not knowing what kind of scenarios people play and that sort of stuff. I try to build on what ive done and use feedback in the forums to help direct me. Its a nice break from doing hills and trees and houses. Its hard finding the time to dedicate to all the different gaming systems. I have a bunch of 40K stuff thats being neglected right now thats 80% done so I will be switching gears soon. More hobbit holes are on the way too. Too bad I couldnt make this a full time thing.

Usually I start with a styrene core and then a process of layering and texturing. How many depends on the final look im trying to go for. I dont really follow a 'recipie', I just keep on untill I think it looks good. As for bits and pieces, anything I can get my hands on. If i see something tiny and detailed i horde it. I have a dremel that i will use to hack things in to pieces and I'm always taking things apart. Beads and things like that can work pretty good. Pretty much anything i can get my hands on.

Old image links often die, it's a big problem on forums. :-\
