I dont really follow any sort of recipie when I make my planets. Essentially all the planets I make go through a layering process if you had to call it something. Any one planet may have up to five different layers and not always intentional. A lot of the time something gets made and im not happy with it and it goes off to the side. Later i might do a few more things to it and it turns out great. Sometimes they will go into the garbage. Most of the effects I get are a combination from using a wide variety of materials. Acrylic mediums, acrylic compounds, matte paint, gloss paint, different grade textures. I should be writing notes when I make them cause most i'd be unable to recreate. One of these days im planning on putting together a tutorial.

Excellent terrain there my friend... The top right looks reminiscent of a Neutron Star. Do you research before making a model or are they from imagination? Either way they are very well done (especially that lava planet!). A giude or tutorial would be very welcome indeed. When I (eventually) get the site together would you mind submitting it to be included amongst other painting/modelling articles?

I dont do any 'formal' research when im making planets. I am familliar enough with some celestial phenomenon. I have something in mind before making one. Sometimes it turns out how i want it to and sometimes it doesnt. Mostly right now im trying to do as much experimenting as i can and build up a set of techniques. Tutorials and guides are something I hope to do in the future. When you get the site together let me know and I can see what i can do.

*sigh* Wish i had the time and space to be able to do that sort of terrain. Of late though I am busy with a number of things in Real Life that put modeling low on the list. Very nice work all round. I especially like the inhabited asteroids you have there.
