Styx (great carrier and lances are always nice Murder Carnage Slaughter Carnage working together with the Styx makes a nice combo, the Murder can support them with its prow lances till it gets in close then use its batteries. Slaughter is just the best close in cruiser out there and people who face em start to hate em (got 4 in my fleet ) When you get up close there is nothing that can match a slaughter one-to-one bar maybe a battleship.

Sorry you were too late. I posted this on TauOnline. What do you think to my choices? I'd have the Carnage screen the Styx while the Slaughter and the Hades attack directly. Thanks anyway. I'm looking to get a couple of smaller escort ships to accompany the Styx (to free up the Carnage), which do you suggest?

Launch-bay heavy Chaos fleets are scary opponents to face... so long as they can keep the bombers coming.
So, I suggest the Styx. For the others... Murder, Carnage and Slaughter. Use that as a base line, and build up.

Ok I'll post my entire fleet here so you can get an idea of how I like my fleet...................... WARNING!!!!!! My fleet is way over the limits of what you "can have" being 7210pts ;D Battleships2X Despoiler 1X Desolator Grand cruisers1X Replusive (always pay the extra 10pts and make the lances range 45) 1X Vengeance Heavy Cruisers2X Styx 2X Hades 1X Acheron 1X Mars Captured during a campaignCruisers2X Devastation 2X Murder 3X Carnage 4X Slaughter 1X Lunar Captured during a campaignEscorts12X Idolators 12X Infidel 11X Iconoclast Plus 1X Blackstone Fortress Fleet breakdown is as follows; I use my murders and Hades together so you have a total of 12 lances at range 60. My Despoilers slowly go forward and along with my other carriers ( A total of 40 launch bays!! I just launch fighters till I am close and then all my bombers and assault boats com into play. Now my slaughters (working together with my escorts, 3 Idolators and 3 Infidel) try and keep back for 1 or 2 turns then go on all head into the middle of the enermy fleet and start causeing chaos! I'am what you could call a crazy player as I dont mind ships blowing up (just as long as its close to the enermy ) Everything else I just wing it and make it up as I go along

+++This list happens to be illegal as lists are supposed to have at least twice as many cruisers as heavy cruisers. It also happens to be the exact same list that I made when I got the BFG boxed set, as Yurrath pointed out. So, if you don't mind me hijacking your thread, what two non-heavy cruisers would complement this list well?+++

If it twas I, a Murder and Devestation. The Carnage (I think it's the Carnage?) Has awesomely powerful weapons batteries! Coupled with a Slaughter with it's lances they would compliment each other quite well I think...
