Well as you probably know I'm looking to go in the campaign thats being run here and i thought i would just run the army list thought a couple of people before its finalized. This is my first actual chaos list so if i have broken an conventions/rules please say. Flagship: Desolater Class Battleship = 300pts Sub-commander: Repulsive Class Grand Cruiser with + range = 290pts Styx Class Heavy Cruiser = 290pts Devastation Class Cruiser = 190pts Murder Class Cruiser = 170pts Murder Class Cruiser = 170pts Iconoclast Escorts x 3 = 90pts Total 1500pts The only things I'm not sure about is whether to use Murder Class Cruisers or Slaughter Class Cruisers, Help Please. Also I'm undecided whether to use 3 Iconoclast Escorts or 2 Idolator Escorts... Help again would be appreciated. The Murders would form a wedge with the Devastation and the Repulsive, while the Flagship and the Styx would encircle and provide fire support. I probably won't get time to test the list before the campaign and I haven't used Chaos before. Any advice or comments or criticisms or help would be great

I think you have too many "heavy" ship. According to rules, you can have one heavy cruiser for each 2 normal cruisers, and one grand cruiser/battleship for each 3 cruisers or heavy cruisers.
I think you can't reuse them though. You have three cruisers, so you can have one grand cruiser or battleship, or1 heavy cruiser, but not all three. If you had one more normal cruiser, you could have 1 heavy cruiser ("using" 2 cruisers) and 1 grandcruiser/battleship ("Using" the heavy cruiser and 2 other cruisers). But as it is now, there are too many heavy ships. So the legality of the list is in question.

This is just tweaking you list so it fits in to the fleet list restrictions. It also has good spread of long and medium range firepower, some lances and a scattering of torpedoes. Goes well with a light plasma reactor overload or seasoned by a warp rift. ;D
Flagship: Desolator Class Battleship 300 pts
Sub-commander: Hades Class Heavy Cruiser 250 pts
Carnage Class Cruiser 180 pts
Devastation Class Cruiser 190 pts
Murder Class Cruiser S2 45 cm Lances (free) 170 pts
Murder Class Cruiser S2 45 cm Lances (free) 170 pts
3 Infidel Raiders 120 pts
4 Iconoclast Destroyers 120 pts
Total 1500pts

Once this list is finished could you post it up in the campaign board in the same format as the other lists? Thanks Lord Callum. Can't say I'm looking forward to facing Chaos!

hmm yes, the original lists "Wedge" included 2 murders and the repulsive, which would have meant a 34 strong broadside on both sides...

LC, just checking, Murder class cruisers, when armed with the Lances, drop their broadside firepower down to S4 WB and S2 Lance, right??
&Yurrath, if your scared, the list I knocked up one day when I was bored featured a Repulsive supported by two Carnages. 46 firepower in a single broadside at 45cm, and 34 in the other one. Not bad for 590 points.

This is why i like chaos And so is that why it says "firepower 4 and strength 2, lances with 45' blar blar." So it removes 6 str of the regular guns and adds 2 lances...?

Approximately
S6 firepower = S2 Lance =S4 firepower+15cm range
thats how the split goes.
But I have to say, resolving a squadrons round of shooting in 3 rounds on the Gunnery table must be very demoralizing for an opponent.

Yep it sure is, try a small-ish game with 3-4 ships and see what they do when they get a 30+ broadside in their face... on both sides... its funny to say the least.

Hmm, a Repulsive, 2 carnages, a Devastation for (limited) Ordinance support, a chaos lord with Leadership 8, all for 850 points.
Wow. That could be quite funny.
Hmm, if only I could have fitted a Styx in...
