Necrons are only really overpowered against Eldar. Many Eldar players quickly get bored of the Necron player pointing out that everything ignores Holofields. I remember once explaining it by saying "Okay, this battle all my Batteries, Lances and Torpedoes ignore your Repair rolls, so you don't get that 4+ Save".
Personally, I always "forget" to apply any passage on the Necron Fleet List that says "Ignores Holofields / Shadowfields", and I have a much better game because of it. I've still won more games as Necrons than lost them.

Not much difference: repairs would be much more demanding, requiring 3 pts repair for each damage point, meaning your fleet would soon grind to halt if you take damage (this would further be troubled by the added difficulty to gain ships, as necron vessels are expensive). Other differences will be dealt with by the subplots etc.
However, I think I have to turn down your participation because of space: Right now we have 1 Tau, 1 Imperial, 1 Mechanicus, 1 Chaos(late entry?) and 1 Eldar fleet planning to participate. This is about the max for the current map, and also for the planning point of view it makes senseto start smaller, and rather make a parallel campaign in different subsector if need rises.
So I'd prefer not to take any more players as of now. However, I might require your assistance as a neutral player, would you be available for that? You would not have your "own" fleet in the campaign, but I could task you with playing some games where there are neutrals (for example if the necron tombworld comes up) At that the inexperience doesn't matter, as even if you lose you did what you are supposed to do: offer battle. If you win, they learn not to underestimate the neutrals...

hi, its a pleasure to see a good BFG site, been wanting to get into it for ages. im a very new player, but is this campaign accepting new players? also, do you accept necrons? i know many people think of them as overpowered (i dont) hopefully the fact im very inexperienced will make up for their brokeness in mosts eyes?^^ anyway hi! its good to be here. I'm glad you found us. I'm not sure about Necrons, having never faced them I can't really judge - although their ability to ignore Holofields sounds a bit broken, because a single hit on an Eldar ship can rip it apart. Anyway, sorry there's not really room this time around, but perhaps you'll want to join in next campaign? You'll have more experience after playing neutral forces in this one anyway! Good to have you onboard, so to speak.
