Would there be enough of participants to take part in small campaign (with slightly stabbed campaign rules) over the Vassal BFG module? I'm willing to make some details, rules changes etc. up, if people are interested. Mostly rules would be heavily set with normal rules of BFG campaigns, but with enough changes to not be one. (I have plans, but I'd like to know if there are people interested in campaign before actually putting them up) I'd prefer to make the campaign so that no GM is needed, so anyone can play, but might work as GM myself if it does not work. Anyway, the campaign would (If I get my way)have: -Map (map based) -Strategic movement -Localized repair handling -Uneven fights (based on strategic movement: You can be vastly out numbered, or have superior numbers) -Hopefully a special Flagship for your commanders. I have to hink this a bit more, but it might be possible. -Something else I was thinking about but forgot. So, my sales pitch is over. I promise a lot, hopefully I can keep up with the promises. Just one word of warning: The campaign is going to last long. I'd say till christmas at least. It is not really huge, but the campaign will take time so please don't jump head long in, only to bail out after 2 weeks. Prepare to be committed. Any volunteers? And which sides are people interested in?

Ooh, pick me, pick me. *jumps up and down like a 5yr old at christmas* Would you like to use the Gologthan Sub-Sector that we designed for the TO global campaign? I'll play as Tau, using Kor'or'vesh ships. (I made a tiny module updater a little while back, PM me if you need it)

I actually have the file, but failed to update the mod-file. Says I'm lacking the pics or something like that. I guess you have those pics somewhere on the hard disk.
Also, I'd rather not change the original module or armada addition to keep them consistent with others. Have you considered making another mdx file to add those ships? I don't think there is anything limiting the amount of upgrade files for the module, so instead changing the basic bfg module or the armada add on, why not make another add on? Less chance of messingsomeone elses work, and would still work if they upgrade their modules.
I'll have to check the sub-sector before I give any comment on that, but I'll keep it in mind.

I didn't know how to make a stand-alone extension or a new extension properly, but I'll look into that tonight.

Sounds great, count me in (on the Eldar side of course). We might need a tutorial on VASSAL in here though...

I was looking a bit at the Golgotha, and found the planet descriptions, but failed to find actual Campaign sector map osable in BFG. Does one exist?
We can either tiethe campaign to that, or have separate, but I'd prefer separate. With so few people playing Gothic, it might soon turn the tie on gothic scale to one side simply by one persons actions. This might make the ground action seem indifferent, or lead to very different directions in fleet and ground war causing problems with fluff.

I have a map, I shall trawl my Photobucket account for it. I have uploaded an unofficial Armada v104 file to my notoriously bad hosting site. Link to file at notoriously bad hosting siteMapOkay, so there's only 7 systems on there. We can easily expand on that, or surround the sector with more, minor systems. ;D

Why don't we have it take place in the Fury sector (as per WG's fluff). It would tie the campaign more to the site. Also - if this gets off the ground I would be willing to make a new board dedicated to the campaign to keep everything together. It would also be cool if we could get all participants that are also on Tau Online to put a campaign banner in their sig. Hmmm... [Edit] Which file do I need to download, and where should I download them to? [/Edit]

Do you have maps of the Fury Sector? We can use that. Or we can have "map on go". I think I started planning a system for that at some point, meant to be used for campaign in unexplored (or long since forgotten) areas.
The golgotha map looks Ok, lacks the warp lanes though. Seven systems with multiple planets in (almost) each system looks nice. How about the fury? Any details (couldn't find with quick search)?
Oh, and the update to armada works nicely. Thanks.

I'll be a part of this. For the TAU. But I have never even played BFG before, and want to play a few games on vassal first. would anyone be willing to teach me how to play and what files do I need to download for BFG on vassal? The newest version? and do i just ignore all the terrain files or something? I just read up on the basic rules, most of them last night, and would like to use the basic starfleets for tau, not the kor that they have come out with. so,anyone willing to help a newb?

Afraid not. The only real BF-F fluff we really have so far is Wargamer's contribution here. There are some name locations in there, to include. Other than that go wild, and PM me what you come up wih (or post it here) and we'll go from there! Excellent. I would love to help, but I'n, not really an experienced enough player and I've never used VASSAL before. If anyone is willing to give tutorials to people, including grunt90 here, it would be very much appreciated.

Yurrath: Random Download Instructions(for those not familiar with my hosting site) Scroll down to the green "Download" button near the middle of the page and click on it. Enter the verification code. Click on the new green "Download" button. NB: Files on this server expire after 14 days of inactivity.
I know bit about VASSAL, and I have decent knowledge of the BFG core rules, but have yet to play any proper games. So if someone who knows more about BFG wants to help me I can teach them VASSAL and then both of us could teach others, and then they teach more people etc, in a cascading effect.

Thanks. I've directed Wargamer from Tau Online to this topic, and he's well versed in the BFG rules so he may be willing to help you with that side of things. Otherwise try downloading the rulebook if you haven't already, there is a link to it in the sticky topics in the General board (this one!). P.s. I have downloaded VASSAL and gone through the tutorial, as well as downloading the BFG mod and the terrain .mdx file. Looks great! Although I noticed there are only the basic ships included in the rulebook available at present.
