This is the Fleet I've currently thought about working with. I have absolutely no access to online stores or anything (d**n credit cards, evil things ), so I'm going to attempt to scratchbuild every single ship for my fleet. Wish me luck. are you going to to be using the forgeworld rules? or GW ones? and what ship design are you going to try to mirror? or are you just going to make up your own?

Forgeworld Rules. The Kor'vattra (Armada) rules will be used for the Messengers & the Bastion. (Kor'or'vesh ships are allowed to take a contingent of Kor'vattra ships).
I'm going to try and stay as close as possible to the forgeworld designs, as the other (metal) Tau ships are just so ugly they're not worth trying to scratch build.

well, it should not be that hard to do, all they are is a basic shape with panel lines. (sorry if you already know this, but i have no way of knowing how experienced you are) the way i would do it would be to make a skeleton of plasticard or other rigid material and then sculpt and sand milliput over it

1 teensy problem with that magnus. I have no idea what milliput is.
or 2 problems actually. The second being that plain sheet styrene (aka plasticard) is rarer than hen's teeth here in New Zealand.
But, I'm a kiwi, so with our universal bit of number 8 wire, some time, and ingenuity. Well, we'll see…

well then, any sheet material that can be glued will do for this purpose, go kick down a forsale sign if you have to! as for milliput, see www.milliput.co.uk/home.htm its like greenstuff but is much more sandable and workable, although i do usually add a little Green stuff to it to make it less brittle. it should be available in any half decent art shop. its also dirt cheap being only like £2 for a packet why can you not mail order? surely you can get a debit card? edit: if you go to the "products" page on the milliput website they have a link where you can send them a message to ask them where you can buy it locally

I like the Tau translations you've put alongside the English names. How did you come up with them? Is there a Tau.English dictionary somewhere I don't know about?

It seems very balanced, and able to take on many enemies at the same time. However, I wonder why you didn't take any torpedo bombers? They are at the back of the armada book. Basically, mantas can become torpedoes. It's very powerful. Was there any reason for this (points), or was it simply overlooked? Cheers! PS it's page 30 of 32 in the PDF appendix of armada (actual page 159), for torpedo bombers. They really do rock

I had considered Torpedo bombers, but thought better of it. The torps only last for a single ordnance phase, and the bombers cannot launch the torps on the turn they themselves are launched. Besides, I have enough Gravitic Launchers/Spineguns to get by on torps anyway.

I like your reasoning. Plus, with the cost of torpedo bombers, I can get a few escorts.
I have to make a new list now, that is a little more varied, and with no torpedo bombers.
Cheers!

Of course, to side with Torpedo Bombers: Nothing screams "Brace for Impact" like Salvo of 16 torps in the weak armor (or through multiple ships.

Just the look on your opponents face would be almost worth the 120 points you paid to upgrade to torpedo bombers. But to me those points are the Messenger ships and their all but essential tracking systems.

meh, you really think messengers are that worth it? they seem kinda iffy to me, considering tau dont really have mass batteries to begin with.
